    Prince of Wales in Canada.

    British royalty. Prince of Wales (future Edward VIII & Duke of Windsor) visiting Canada; 1919. Arrival in Montreal; Quebec. Big crowd in front of gothic cathedral; all facing camera. Motorcade turns a corner; police hold back crowd. Prince tips his hat to people as he goes up walk & steps to the Lookout at Mount Royal; where there is a great view of the city. LS from behind Prince as he stands at railing looking out over Montreal. Shots from elegant open air luncheon held at Mount Royal in a sort of covered patio; Prince; governor; etc.- -at least as many waiters as there are people eating! Next; Prince at Ottawa. Getting into coach. Crowd. Girl & boy climb over low fence.

    Huge crowd in front of grand building; back of girl in FG standing on top of something & bouncing w/ excitement. Pan over crowd. Boy Scouts march past; then Girl Scouts. Lawn party at Governor General (the Duke of Devonshire)'s house: a line of ladies comes along; each making curtsy to the Prince. and also the Duke & Duchess- -this makes it look like they're bouncing up & down like a silly toy! Shot of this from above; shows also others chatting in the garden. More shots of Ottawa high society at the party. Long long line waiting to be presented to HRH. Establishing shot of Government House; w/ curved driveway & many trees in front. Closer shot. Then shots of the Duke of D. & his family posing & strolling in their garden. CU daughter ? Then 2 women & a dog sitting on bench.

    Wide shot panning on Parliament Buildings; w/ large crowd in FG. Closer shot: carriage pulls up in front of bldg arriving for ceremony. Several people waving madly from some high balcony? Prince goes up on little platform where the heavy cornerstone is hanging by chains; he bends down & does something to it. Then a few men help to guide it as it is lowered into place. Prince making speech from a stage; behind him various military officers; officials; etc. At side of proscenium; Prince w/ Navy officer raising flag. Prince leads a cheer; waving his hat. Prince & Canadian VIPs leaving building.

    Prince inspects Canadian Army soldiers- -Princess Patricia (of Connaught)'s Canadian Light Infantry. He stops & shakes hands w/ officer. Next; Prince presents decorations to mothers of fallen heroes; shots of him pinning medals. Good crowd shot; from a bit above them. Prince pins medal on soldier in Scottish uniform. Another crowd shot; this time all men; mostly soldiers in uniform. Prince leaving in carriage. Slow pan over grounds as crowd disperses. Arriving at Chateau Laurier: cars pull up at entrance; crowd converges on them. Shot of Chateau balcony from window of bldg. across street w/ silhouettes of a few people in FG looking out. Looking over cheering crowd; Prince in BG. Shot looking down street filled w/ people between the tall buildings.

    CU elderly lady; Mrs. Dugal McClellan; age 90; sits in chair; someone behind reaches for her arm to try to get her to wave; then she keeps waving, moving her hand in circular motion. Next; Prince stands on platform w/ canopy; reading speech; pan round to crowd watching on small town main street. Closer shot panning over crowd. Prince at Sault-St.Marie; walks by w/ other men; then in car; then brief shot on platform. Section of crowd; group of schoolchildren. MS Prince shaking hands w/ soldiers or veterans.     CU boy w/ hands cupped around mouth; looks like he's shouting. Crowd waving flags; Navy band in FG. Prince meets elderly veterans. Pan over stadium again more shots of girls in white doing complicated formation marching. Pan box where Prince sits. Prince standing at top of steps reading speech. Next; procession in India: Prince in carriage under umbrella ? He & others descend; all wear white helmets. In Canada: Prince mounts horse w/ Western saddle; rides around ring w/ Canadian cowboys. He & another man pose in the saddle while young women stand beside holding their horses. Sports; royal visits. Boy Scouts.
