    Passing Out and Wings Presentation Parade at Syerston, Nottinghamshire - Roll 2.

    Several shots of Captain Kimmins' plane taxiing in at airfield. Kimmins alights and is greeted by Station Commander, Group Captain Heycock DFC. Kimmins shakes hands with a lieutenant. Kimmins and Heycock walk away from the plane and onto the parade ground.

    M/Ss of wings insignia on table. Shots of spectators - high ranking RAF officers and their wives - all look pretty miserable, sitting there in the drizzle. Several shots of Guard of Honour. Kimmins inspects Royal Naval Air Service cadets and officers. C/U of Captain Kimmins' son, Midshipman Kimmins. C/U of medals on chest; pan up to RAF officer. M/S of wings on table; pan to general view of parade.

    Several shots of Kimmins presenting wings to cadets. Kimmins' son comes forward to receive wings. Kimmins Senior makes the presentation and the pair shake hands. Other cadets receives wings. General view of parade ground with cadets lined up. Cadets give three cheers.

    Various shots of march past. Kimmins stands on dais and takes salute. M/S of Midshipman Kimmins. C/U of wings, pan up to Midshipman Kimmins. Pan along line of cadets. C/U of Midshipman Kimmins.

    Cataloguer's note: notes on file include biography of Captain Kimmins. As well as having a distinguished war record, he was also a playwright, enjoying great success in the 1930s with 'While Parents Sleep' - see PT 101 for an excerpt of this play.
