    Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

    M/S of a crowded saloon bar in 'The George' pub. A waiter enters carrying a tray of food which he places on the table of a middle aged couple. C/U of the waiter. As he sets down the tray, he also places a sheet of paper in front of the woman. The woman, Phyllis Hillman, takes a rich tea biscuit from the tray. She takes a ruler and places it across the biscuit. She reaches across the table to pick up a knife, as she does this she notices the man reaching for a bowl of nuts on the tray and slaps his wrist. C/U of Phyllis using the knife to cut the biscuit in half. The pub, according to the narrator "is the home of a new art form - painting without paints" - art made from household items. C/U of the man watching her work. M/S of Phyllis brushing glue onto the paper. C/U of Phyllis' face as she works. She takes some dried food from a bowl and sprinkles it onto the glue. She uses corn flakes to make the petals of a flower. C/U of a bowl of almonds in the man's hands. He passes a few almonds to Phyllis who uses them to make another flower. The narrator explains that as well as corn flakes and a biscuit, she has used macaroni, rice, tea and tobacco. The man opens a silver tin of tobacco and Phyllis takes some to incorporate into her picture. C/U of the tray of food. In the centre of the tray are several pots of paint which Phyllis dips her brush in to. Panning shot to show the paint being applied to the biscuit painting which has now taken the form of a vase of flowers.

    M/S of two men and a woman - Roy Barnes, Richard Duncan and Jean Tibbles - sitting at another pub table. The waiter places a tray of "household commodities" on to the centre of the table before passing around sheets of paper to the three people. On the paper are paintings at differing stages of completion. The narrator explains that it is not just food that can be used in painting but also "shoe, grate or tile polish". C/U of dishes of home-made paints. Jean pours some sort of polish in to the dishes. The painters dip their brushes in and continue their work. C/U of Richard at work. C/U of Richard painting a "nautical scene" using "plain old fashioned blue bag". C/U of Jean dipping her finger into red and black paint and applying it to her painting of a woman's profile. M/S of the three at work. Other items used to paint with include soot, coffee, custard and nail varnish.

    M/S of a toddler, Elizabeth Baldwin, and a baby, Lauren Tibbles, sitting at a kitchen table. The toddler is smearing red jam into the table clothe. C/U of the jam encrusted toddler sucking jam from her thumb. The narrator jokes that it is never too early to start this form of art. Tilt down to the sticky mess on the table. C/U of the baby in the high chair using a spoon to scoop jam from a large glass bowl.
