Cuts (rushes, out takes) for story in CP 204 - H.A.C. PIKEMEN. Cut story is on tape *PM0081*.
Various shots of soldiers on manoeuvres in the British countryside. Shots of explosions, smoke, men using field telephone, men crouching behind hedges etc. Looks like some of the soldiers are pretty young and some are pretty old. Territorial Army perhaps? The men move a small boat into a river. The men propel the boat across the river with oars. Young boy laughs as his attempts to load a rifle don't go too well. Soldiers climb a hill.
Soldiers on parade - regiment unknown but possibly Grenadier Guards. C/U of officer of the Grenadier Guards. The men march through the gates of Buckingham Palace. Grenadier Guard marches past the gates of the palace.
Shots of Pikemen (?) in red uniforms as they put on their armoured breastplates. One man polishes his armour and applies medals to the chest. C/U of the medals. One of the men holds large drum. C/U of one of the Pikemen putting on his helmet. The men pick up large poles with bayonets on the end ("pikes"?). They stand holding these poles and move them in synchronisation as the drummer beats out a rhythm. Various shots of the Pikemen going through their paces. C/U of Pikemen's feet. They have little red bows on their shoes - cheeky! More shots of the Pikemen including some nice C/Us of faces. Three Pikemen take of their hats and bow in unison. C/U of lovely pair of leather boots - boss Pikeman presumably. Three Pikemen pose with ancient rifles.
