    L/S of the top of a derrick; camera pans down to oil drilling site. Sean Lemass, Prime Minister of Eire, is introduced to various officials at the opening of the site. The parish priest blesses the site. Mrs Kirk Johnson (wife of the Chairman of an associated US company) performs the ceremony of cutting the tape. Mr Lemass stands behind her.

    The drilling equipment is lowered into the hole in the ground and starts to turn round. L/S of the top of the derrick; camera pans down to show a pipe in the foreground pumping out water.
