    Catalogued from negative on machine that only views in positive so some details unclear.

    Reel 1 continued. Interior of the radar room. Two crew men track the balloon on radar set - C/U. Man talks into a microphone - letting the Met Plotting Office know the location of the balloon. C/U of a sign reading "Met. Plotting Office." C/U of a speaker. M/S of men working machines, picking up signals and plotting the journey of the balloon. C/U of the "Computer" - the member of staff who works out temperature, humidity and pressure from information signalled from the balloon. Information is sent out by radar. M/S of a radar mast and then of a Morse code operator tapping out a message. C/U of equipment and of maps. C/U of a man drawing up a weather map. The galley - a meal is dished out. C/U of the cook as he opens the oven to reveal loaves of bread cooking.

    Reel 2. Alan (?) the chief cook in C/U carves a joint of meat. C/U of the ship's cat licking its lips. C/U of someone's feet as they shuffle along to "shoo" the cat out of the kitchen. Top shot of the cat running off. M/S of crew sitting at table. One of the men gives the cat a morsel of meat - this is in the Petty Officers' Mess. C/U of a sign over a door "Wardroom" - cat is given a saucer of milk. C/U of men eating - they are in uniform. One of the Officers holds a cigarette case out and another man takes one of the offered cigarettes. C/U of a wooden plaque bearing the O.W.S. insignia. Birds flying over the sea are followed by the camera. C/U of paperwork. M/S of man in sou'wester and raincoat staggers along on deck in a high sea. Various shots of ship's equipment and men at their work. M/S of the lifeboat. M/S of the radar mast. Morse code operators. C/U of hands of two men as they play a card game - Cribbage. M/S of group of Officers sitting around playing cards. C/U of one of men smoking a pipe. C/U of a hand choosing a book from a shelf. "The lads on the mess deck enjoy reading too" states the narrator - a much more relaxed group of young men sit around a fire smoking and reading. C/U of a book being held - The Curate's Crime by Alexandra Dick. There may be a class comment here as the previous book chosen was "The Story of San Michele" by Munthe. Continued.
