Full title reads: "France. Novel ... useful & beautiful! French, Belgian & British Bands at inauguration of Lille's towering Beacon Belfry - A searchlight will guide Cross Channel airmen!"

    Lille, France.

Low angle shot of large tower - the Beacon Belfry. Pan down to building at its base.

A French military band leads a parade through the streets of Lille. People watch from the roadside. A British Army band - from a guards regiment - parade next.

C/U inscription on memorial to the Soldiers and Civilians of Lille who died in World War One. Pan down to various dignitaries gathered at the base of the memorial. Representatives of the Guards lay a wreath at the monument. The band and dignitaries look on. (Not sure what connection this war memorial has with the Beacon Belfry.)

    NOVEL...USEFUL & BEAUTIFUL (1932).

The British band shown in the footage is that of the Grenadier Guards. This clip must have been filmed over more than one day, as the Grenadier Guards' band is shown marching down the street in their Summer Guard Order uniform....and are then shown static dressed in their Winter Guard Order dress!
