    Various shots of the French liner ship SS Normandie in dock, being turned into a America Naval Auxiliary. Men work to weld over her portholes and take the letters of her name off her side. The ship will now be called the Lafayette, in honour of the great Frenchman who befriended the USA in the American Revolution.
