    Various locations of events.

In New York, United States of America, we see various shots of Navy Day. A huge parade of sailors march along. Shots of people in the crowd. C/U of a little boy wearing a sailor hat and suit. The American Army, including a division of African-American troops, march along in the parade. A division of the British Navy are also present.

In Virginia we see several shots of British sailors on leave helping farmers to bring in the harvest. They pitch hay and pick sweetcorn cobs. We are told they accept no pay. Shots of a group of sailors drinking bottles of beer. (More footage of this story found in 42/95 - Sailors Help Farmers.)

At Santa Monica Mountains, Los Angeles, we see a bush fire sweeping through a forest. The fire blazes, blocking the roads to fire fighting equipment. Two women chat; one holds a cat who escaped the fire with singed, curly whiskers. Brief shots of the fire still raging at dusk.

We then see a bridge over the Colorado river being set with dynamite charges by army engineers. The steel bridge is earmarked for salvage. The explosion makes the entire bridge fall down into the water in one piece!
