  • 05:57 - The Campbell Trophy Race on 1st May 1937.

    This was the first race on the new Campbell Road Circuit (incorporating parts of the Outer Circuit and new sections on the infield). Earl Howe's No.8 ERA (R8B) hit the parapet at Vickers Bridge corner (subsequently named "Howe Corner") and he was thrown out of the car, sustaining serious injuries, but recovered to return to racing later in 1937.
