    This was the first raid in the war to have civilian casualties ,it occured on Saturday the 25 May 1940 ,the town was South Bank in Middlesbrough the first bomb landed on the Cargo Fleet iron works just inside the boundary of Middlesbrough council and traveled along to the Clay Lane and Besemer Iron works of Dorman Long with the last bomb causing the Casualties in the Grangetown area of middlesbrough 8 workmen were injured Ian McPherson
