    Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire.

    L/S as a van drives up a road with fields on each side. The van comes to a stop, it has 'RN' on the side. The door opens and two women and a man get out. The women are members of the Royal Navy, Third Officers Pat Nicholls and Adrienne White. M/S as they go round to the back of the van. The man is wearing a Naval uniform and the women are wearing waterproof outfits and hats, and carrying packs. C/U of the man handing them supplies, C/U as Pat puts a tin in the pocket of her trousers. M/S as the man hands the girls a map each and shuts the van doors. The narrator says the girls are on a survival training exercise. C/U of Pat looking at her map and pointing to it, the camera pans across to Adrienne who looks up into the distance. M/S of the girls stood on the road as the van drives away, they walk across the fields.

    L/S of two male Naval officers getting out of an RN van in the same style of waterproof outfits, they set off through some trees. Various shots of the girls making their way through the undergrowth. M/S as they reach a clearing and start climbing down to the stream. L/S of them standing in the stream, they take their water bottles from round their necks and bend down to fill them. M/S of the girls filling their bottles from the stream. Various shots of the men making their way through the undergrowth. L/S as they crawl along the ground, C/U as they dig in the earth with knives, the narrator says they have to look for food as they are only given some glucose tablets to survive on. C/U of one of the men picking out a root. M/S of the men putting what they have found in their pockets and moving away from the area. M/S as the women move into another clearing, C/U of Pat looking tired as she takes off her hat and pack. C/U of Adrienne taking off her hat and pack. The narrator tells us girls are used on these exercises partly for psychological reasons because "you know how men hate to be beaten by a girl".

    M/S of the girls pulling branches out of a pile of wood, they take out their knives and start to chop the wood. C/U of Pat chopping at the branch. M/S of Adrienne unfurling the tent on the ground. M/S of Pat gathering fruit and leaves in her hat, M/S of Adrienne in the tent, Pat brings the leaves over to her.

    M/S of the men walking along, they throw themselves on the ground and start crawling, an enemy sentry is walking along in the background. M/S as the sentry crosses the bridge and walks away. M/S as the men get up and run off. M/S as the women come out from the undergrowth into a road, a van is seen driving down the road so the girls jump back into the bushes. M/S as they jump and hide behind the bushes, the van drives past. C/U as Pat gets to her feet and helps Adrienne up, they start to walk off.

    M/S of one of the men stood by a tent, he is putting leaves over the top of the tent as camouflage. C/U of the other man, Lieutenant Redmond, taking the lid off a watertight tube containing matches. He strikes a match and bends down, M/S of him lighting the fire of twigs. M/S of the girls climbing through the undergrowth. M/S of the girls as they walk into the clearing where the men are, they have arranged to meet up at this spot to pool their resources. The girls sit on the ground looking tired and the men carry on lighting the fire and camouflaging the tent.
