    Titles read: "MOVING DAY".

    Somewhere in Britain.

Various shots of RAF airmen of a Home-based Fighter Squadron packing up all their belongings at a base somewhere in Britain and moving to a new aerodrome. Men pack up things from their hut - a dartboard and an artistic pin-up of a topless girl.

The men make their way to the airfield. Several shots of planes taking off as commentator says "When squadrons are moved from one strategic position to another, the pilots fly their aircraft fully armed and fuelled so as to be ready to join battle should any threat develop".

Ground crews march to a plane and climb aboard. "In service parlance, this is an "Air Lift", as the whole squadron takes wing." A bicycle and a dog are loaded onto the same aircraft. Brief shot of men shuffling cards in the plane during flight.

After landing at their new destination, the men climb out of the plane and walk across the tarmac, carrying their kit bags.

  1. Siaron James says

The pin-up taken off the wall in this clip is a picture by artist David Wright (1912-1967), who served as an Army driving instructor in North Wales during the war. It is called "Nut Brown Maid".
