  • ii) Luigi Fagioli wins the 1935 Monaco Grand Prix in a Mercedes-Benz W125.

    iii) This is the BARC Meeting at Brooklands in August 1936.

    20.02: 4 - BMW 328, 9 - Frazer Nash, 10 - Bugatti, 10 - Frazer Nash, 11 - Frazer Nash, 12 - Aston Martin.

    02.17: "...one of the entries is Prince Chula of Siam, who seems to be one of the keenest racing drivers in this country." - Chula entered the car for the races, but his cousin, Prince Bira, was the driver.

    "R.H. Eccles wins in a Rapier Special" - the 1st August Mountain handicap (1936) was a dead heat between Roy Eccles 1100cc Lagonda Rapier Special and King-Clark's supercharged 747cc MG. The Rapier was built to special order for Eccles and still races today.

  • iii) "Short shot of demonstration of a car which has an engine at each end. "Very nice" observes the narrator, "provided they both pull in the same direction"." - it's one of the two Bimotore Alfa Romeos. As the name suggests, it has two engines, but mounted side-by-side, not front and rear. It was built by Scuderia Ferrari who were then Alfa's race team, but only became constructors after WW2.

  • iv) Monaco Grand Prix - 2nd April 1934. The winner was Guillaume "Guy" Moll in a P3 Alfa Romeo. He also won another Grand Prix at AVUS (Berlin) on 27th May, but was killed in an accident in the Coppa Acerbo at Pescara on 15th August.

  • vii) 1957 British Grand Prix at Aintree. Stirling Moss & Tony Brooks share the win in a Vanwall (VW5).
