Continued. Night shots. The signaller receives a message from the search party. Jeff tells him that they haven't found the crashed aircraft but he is certain they are in the right area. They will spend the night there and start again when it gets light. He says: "It's damn cold and rations are low."

L/S of Mount Kenya. Dusk shot of soldier collecting firewood. Night shot of Jeff on night watch. One of the men calls out - he has spotted the plane. They rush off towards the crashed plane.

C/Us of the men looking at the wreckage of the plane. The pilot has gone but they find him lying injured beside the plane. The platoon work together to make the man comfortable.

Dawn breaks and the pilot begins to come round. C/U of two of the soldiers discussing whether the pilot will make it. "He needs a hot meal" says one.

C/U of Lieutenant Stanley speaking into field telephone. He is arranging for an air drop of food and medical supplies to the search party. Cut back to Jeff who looks very worried and says: "I hope they come soon."

M/S of a 'plane starting up. Control Officer speaks into a microphone advising pilot of the map reference for the army rescue team. C/U of pilot about to take off. Shots of the plane leaving the airfield.

L/S and C/U of Bartly walking through undergrowth and aiming his gun at a wild animal (something like a deer - hard to see). C/U of his concentrated face as he takes aim.

He hears a noise and looks around. A growling sound makes him hesitate. C/U of his face and of his finger on the trigger. He fires.

Camera follows aircraft as it zooms past. Aerial shots of the forest.

M/S of Jeff and Dormer who have spotted the 'plane. Dormer radios to the pilot and tells him to look out for their smoke. They let off a flare. The plane drops supplies. They throw a grenade to show the pilot where they are. The plane drops medical supplies which are attached to a little parachute.

The injured pilot has been given some broth - presumably made from the animal that Bartly shot. Jeff and Dormer return with the supplies.

L/S of the rescue team making their way down the hillside carrying the injured man on a stretcher. Pan to C/U of a threatening looking local tribesman.

C/U of Jeff, he holds up his hand in greeting and speaks to the man in his own language. The man smiles and beckons some other men out of the undergrowth. Jeff communicates the fact that the man on the stretcher needs medical treatment. The men help them to carry the stretcher - although Musgrave objects to having his role challenged and hangs on to the stretcher. "Here, do you mind!" he says.

The tribesmen guide the rescue party back to their village where they get a welcome from the local children. High angle shot of the village. Jeff asks to speak to the chief of the tribe. Jeff speaks in broken English making signals with his hands. The chief understands that he wants to clear the ground nearby so that a 'plane can land.

The chief orders his men to help the rescue party. The men sing as they work. Various shots of tree trunks being moved and the earth being cut with machetes. Musgrave jokes: "I thought women were supposed to do all the heavy work in this country!"

The police plane approaches and lands on the improvised airfield. Crowds of children watch the plane land. They cheer. Jeff compares them to a football crowd. The rescue party lift the stretcher and carry the injured pilot towards the police plane. The local people crowd around the plane. Jeff asks if his first aid man can go along on the flight, the pilot agrees. The crowd that has gathered wave and cheer as the plane takes off.

M/S of tribesmen and women gathered in a circle. A man stands in the middle and leads a traditional song. Good C/Us of the women who bob up and down in time with the song. The rescue party thank the chief and leave the village.

Jeff says: "It was going to be alright now... But we had a flipping long march back to civilisation. Anyway - that's the story of how we spent last week-end on Mount Kenya."
