  • This took me back to age 17, when I had a dispensation to go to Cheltenham for the Gold Cup instead of playing rugby! It was a 10 mile cycle ride from school (mostly downhill though the return was up the Cotswold escarpment at Charlton Kings) and it was all worth it. And, as the race reader said, Shaef would have won if not for the broken bridle.
