Various shots of pretty, sun-tanned girls in swimsuits parading before judges at the 25th Miss Great Britain beauty contest. The judges (not seen clearly but including singer Freddie Garrity and Moira Anderson) sit wrapped up against the bitter cold.
Good footage of late 60s glamour girls and colourful 1960s swimsuits. Wendy George of Derby is declared the winner. A woman puts the sash on Wendy who starts to weep with joy. She composes herself and poses with her trophy cup. Commentator says "The girl who thought she was too chubby to stand a chance won for herself £2,000, a £500 watch and a tour of Britain. Please, Wendy, don't diet!"
Cataloguer's note: interesting that although it was fashionable to look like Twiggy in the late 60s, these gals are very curvy. I suppose fashion cannot dictate to beauty contests, especially in the bosom department!
