Star Item
  • Description

    Unissued / unused material.

Title is misleading - this is not an interview with boxer Tami Mauriello but with boxer Gus Lesnevitch.

    Location is probably Brighton, Sussex.

Various shots of Pathe interviewer John Parsons interviewing American boxer and his trainer. John addresses the boxer as "Gus", suggesting the boxer is Gus Lesnevitch and his trainer is Joe Vella.

Old records / original dope sheets are inaccurate - this item is not cuts from 46/73. More likely cuts from story in Gazette issue 46/69.

Date given on old record is 12/09/1946.

Seen here are offcuts and out-takes for a piece in clip 1408.21.

As already noted in the body text, this clip has a misleading title - this isn't an interview with Tami Maurielo.

However the alternative title of "Interview with Lesnevich" also needs changing, for the interviewee's name should be spelt Gus Lesnevich. That name also needs changing in the body text and tags.

At 00:23 Lesnevich mentions an upcoming fight on "the night of the 17th" - this refers to a bout with Bruce Woodcock on 17 September 1946.

At 01:02 Lesnevich's trainer refers to the date of the fight as "September the 18th", an error on his part, which is why it forms part of these out-takes.

Realistically, all mentions of Tami Mauriello can be removed from text and tags - although he's mentioned during the interview, he's not part of this story.
