    Tel Aviv & Jerusalem, Palestine (Israel).

    Following the terrorist bomb outrage on the Goldsmith officers club martial law is declared (operation Hippo) in Tel Aviv and the Meah Shearim district of Jerusalem.

    CU. A notice on the pavement. "Stop - None allowed past this point." The shadow of a British soldier on the pavement. CU A British soldier checking the credentials of a lorry driver. Several shots of bren gun carriers and tanks patrolling the streets. Several shots of Lieutenant General Sir Richard Gale outside 1st Infantry Division Headquarters at Tel Letvinsky explaining details of operations to his officers. LS. A tree lined street (Allenby Road, Tel Aviv) almost deserted, showing empty bus stops. MS. A line of idle buses. MS. Horse drawn taxis carrying passengers along the streets. MS. A barrier across road being raised to allow a van to pass. MS. Bread being delivered from a van. MS. Bread being handed over a barbed wire fence. LS. Long queue outside the inquiry office set up by the army authorities.
