    Bikaner, (Now part of Rajasthan), India. Voiceovered newsreel material.

    The Maharajah of Bikaner celebrates his 44th birthday, India. Various shots of the Maharajah in ceremonial robes riding on a state elephant through streets crowded with people. Various shots of Maharajah at the Royal Temple, he prostrates himself before an altar and is blessed by the priest who anoints his forehead. C/U of the Maharajah's eldest son. C/U of Maharajah swinging ceremonial brushes over his shoulder (part of ritual?). Narrator tells us Maharajah took opportunity of his birthday to declare self-government for Bikaner.
