L/S crowds assembled in Trafalgar Square for Anti-Vietnam War demonstration. Various shots posters and banners. M/S students in crowd. Various C/Us actress Vanessa Redgrave walking in crowd. M/S North Vietnamese flags being waved by demonstrators. L/S the Square with smoke rising from smoke bomb. The march, headed by Vanessa Redgrave and political activist Tariq Ali, leaves the Square. C/U girl carrying placard. Various shots march going up Charing Cross Road. L/S group of German students in procession with banner, they start to run.
C/U street sign: "Grosvenor Square". L/S American Embassy, pan to line of policemen. M/S line of policemen. The march reaches Grosvenor Square, many demonstrators wear white headbands. L/S line of police as the demonstrators go past. The police try to hold back the crowd. Various shots scuffles breaking out between protesters and police. Mounted police try to force the crowd back. Demonstrator carried away by policemen. The crowd forces it's way through into the gardens. More demonstrators under arrest are carried away by policemen. The crowd run across the gardens as police try to stop them. C/U demonstrator running away from policeman, he is caught and held by group of policemen. Smoke bomb lands in front of mounted police, pan to police holding back crowd. More shots policemen fighting with demonstrators, policemen kick demonstrator lying on ground. Mounted police in amongst crowd. C/U demonstrator on ground. Mounted police holding back the crowd in the gardens. L/S ditto, as one demonstrator is pulled through the hedge by policeman.
