A baby cries as its badly blistered legs are shown to the camera. Napalm? Shells being loaded into artillery. Missile loaded onto launching machinery. Group of airmen look at plans and discuss how they will fly. Military man hands out newspapers. One woman wears a military helmet. C/Us of pages of newspaper. Men at work preparing military weapons. A tank is moved on a winch, tanks drive through the streets. A small cannon is taken into a block of flats then wheeled along the roof.

    Lids are removed from holes in the pavement and women emerge with pails of water which are then tipped out into the road. A tap with running water fills a pail. A young girl washes her doll in a basin of soapy water. Two women smile and look down a well. A bucket of water is lifted from a well and poured. A woman waves goodbye to children on a bus or tram. C/U of children's faces. Views of Hanoi from a moving vehicle (very short). Lights go on in a house. C/U of light on ceiling.

    Pan down to a group of people applauding. Could be a political meeting. Large bunch of flowers are presented to various people at the meeting. Most of the people at the meeting are teenagers or young adults. In silhouette a woman puts on a military helmet and is given a rifle which she puts over her shoulder. A man at a blackboard. Young adults at desks. A man sits at a table with plans. He uses a set square. A student. Another older man draws - he may be an artist. A group of young women look at architectural models. A girl combs her hair silhouetted in a window. Panning shot of a domestic interior. Woman with a baby on her hip in her home.
