Reel 1. Travelogue made by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. Spoken by John Glen. Small motorised boat pulls into an Irish harbour at sunset. C/U of a road sign with Spelga Dam, Kilkeel, Hilltown, Newry, Newcastle, Bryansford, Rostrevor pointed to in different directions. The camera follows a dog which runs along a road which stretches into the distance. A man rides a horse and cart following a group of people and a small herd of cows. High angle shot of two women riding bikes in shorts and brightly coloured sweaters. Road signs read Templepatrick and Antrim. They stop and look at the sign. C/U of herd of sheep and shepherd with beautiful countryside in the background. View from inside a car as it drives through rolling hills. Car driver stops to ask directions - the car is a red Triumph Herald Estate. A friendly Ulster man leans through the window of the car and describes a route to the driver - he has a very strong accent. Moving shot of a road which passes through beautiful countryside of the Antrim coast. M/S of woman pruning a hedge.

High angle shot of a couple walking along a path by the coast. Closer shot of the couple as they walk away from the camera towards a row of houses. They hold hands. High angle LS of the car driving along the coast then stopping at the edge of the water. M/S of farmer moving clumps of straw with a pitchfork. High angle L/S of the same farmer repeating the action. Marketplace - strange looking man in a top hat winds a piece of string around his arm as he speaks to the crowd. The "old Loomis (?) fair" at Bally (?) Castle. High angle shot of the stalls - bustling with people. M/S of children gathered around a toy stall, mother carries a child in her arms past the camera in the foreground - the child is blowing bubbles. It seems to be a cross between a market and a funfair. Hoopla stall - hoops are held very close to the camera then thrown away from it towards the prizes - as if thrown by the cameraman. Lots of children crowded around the stall. A man buys a horse from another - M/S of them slapping hands on the deal. Money is exchanged - horse in background. M/S of farmers inspecting sheep in a pen. C/U of the men leaning into the pen and slapping hands on a deal. C/U of face of sheep.

M/S of two men walking off pulling their golf club bags behind them in a scenic location. Various shots of men taking swings at golf balls. Various shots of young people playing tennis with mountains in the background. C/U of motorcyclist putting goggles on. High angle L/S of the Ulster Grand Prix track - many spectators in the foreground. Riders zoom past. Various C/Us of motorcycle racers approaching the camera and passing it. C/U of the wheels of a horse drawn carriage - "a jaunting car." Pan up to show the driver and passengers. L/S of them travelling down a country lane. They are passed by someone on a moped. C/U of a stone cross and a sculpture of Saint Patrick. View of a mountain through the branches of a tree. Zoom in to a traditional Irish beauty feeding some geese in the countryside. She speaks to camera with a strong Irish accent about the fact that Saint Patrick worked on Slemish Mountain. She says with fervour: "...and if you walk through our lovely country in his footsteps, you'll end up wishing from your heart at a wishing well." C/U of the water of a wishing well and exterior building of a wishing well at Struell near Southwell (?) where he founded the church. C/U of his statue on the heights over Strangford Loch. Holy wishing well - visitors tie a wish by ribbons to a "fairy bush". "Nobody in Ulster will ever let you forget that this is the land of magic where there really are fairies up to their impish tricks." L/S of a tractor being driven close to small haystacks. Tractor stops by a tree. A young good looking farmer on a tractor speaks to camera: "Of course there are fairies, that's why we'll plough around this fairy thorn or we'd be asking for trouble..." He tells of someone who cut a bough from the bush and how sheep died because of the bad luck.
