Panning shot of the river banks. M/S of camels at the waters edge with their riders. Herdsmen with flock of sheep and goats move close to the river. L/S of landscape. L/S of a combine harvester at work. Closer shot of the combine moving along. This is compared with a neighbouring farm where two men cut the crop with small hand scythe. The Bible story of Ruth is mentioned. C/U of the men working. The Jordan is joined by another river - the Yarma (sp?). Panning shot of the landscape - a steep and rugged gorge. The Old Testament story of Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt is recounted on soundtrack. Panning shot of salt being reclaimed by the sea.
