Animation featuring Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - a cartoon dog. A U.I.C. production.
The lid of a bottle of ink wobbles around a bit then falls out of the inkpot. Jerry climbs out. He salutes the audience. He stands on top of the inkpot, then jumps off the pot and points his hands at it. The inkpot disappears. Jerry walks along and multiplies, leaving a picture of himself repeating across the screen. Intertitle reads: "Ten little Jerry-boys standing in a line...." They all turn to look at the audience "..One weary pup soon got "fed up"..." The Jerry at the front of the queue yawns and falls over backwards. All the other Jerrys tumble like dominoes. The front Jerry turns around and question marks appear above the heads of all the Jerrys behind him. They all point their fingers and yell "GET OUT!" "Nine little Jerry-boys tried reducing weight...." Nine Jerrys in shorts run along. "...The one that won was number one..." The one at the front sweats a lot and shrinks. "...and now there's only eight..." "Eight little Jerry-boys working close to Heaven" - Lots of Jerrys work on a building site: painting, sawing, bricklaying etc. "...One slipped and fell..." One Jerry falls off the scaffolding - all the others freeze and look down. "...He's now quite well...." Jerry plays the harp in heaven - he is an angel with wings and a halo. "...that leaves only seven..." "Seven little Jerry-boys getting in a mix..." Jerrys do some acrobatics, jumping around the screen. ".. One moment please, we'll settle these..." A pair of hands (real ones) spread across the paper and sort the Jerrys out into a line. "Oh help! There's only..." The hand moves across and counts the Jerrys - 6. "Six little Jerry-boys very much alive.." The Jerrys magically have juggling clubs which they swing around. "...One was too bold and caught a "cold"..."
One of the Jerrys throws a club up into the air and catches it again. The second time he tries it the club whacks him on the head, he falls through the floor and a star flies into the air. "...and now there's only five. "Five little Jerry-boys feeling very sore..." Five Jerrys sit on a bench looking morose. "But one, alas, espied a lass..." One of the Jerrys gets up and walks over to a girl dog sitting on a bench under a parasol looking very coy. He holds his heart and a love heart appears between them. Jerry grabs her and she puts down her parasol. Presumably they are kissing behind it as sparks are flying! A policeman comes along and picks Jerry up by the scruff of the neck.
He carries Jerry off. "...we've still, (thank goodness), four." "Four little Jerry-boys everyone a "He"..." Four Jerrys in top hat and tails walk along, they all carry canes and the one at the front has a bunch of flowers. "..One tied the knot, and now he's got..." Jerry pushes a pram with about five tiny Jerry puppies in it. A wife walks behind him pointing her finger at Jerry. Our man looks very browbeaten and henpecked. "...then there were three....." "Three little Jerry-boys all alike to you.." The Jerrys turn and smile at the camera. "...but this one's face..." A prodding object is placed on top of the cartoon and squishes Jerrys face out of shape. It is kind of poked into Jerrys mouth and pushed. Yuc! "...is a darned disgrace..."The other two look at the distorted Jerry as he is lifted off the page. "...so we'll carry on with two..." "Two little Jerry-boys feeling full of fun..." They stand there laughing uproariously. "...One laughed too long and things went wrong..." the laughing Jerry's stomach suddenly blows up like a balloon and explodes. The one Jerry left looks very surprised. "...and now we've got - just one." "One little Jerry-boy left without a friend..." Jerry stands alone in the dark. "With naught to do and feeling..."
Note: Disastrously the end of this story is missing. We shall never know how it ends. Boo hoo.
