Animation. A U.I.C. production featuring Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - a cartoon dog.
C/U of a blank piece of paper. Hands pick it up and a shape is cut out of the paper very quickly. When it is turned around it reveals itself to be Jerry. He blinks and yawns then gets angry at the hand that is holding him. The animators other hand pulls his tail. Jerry yelps in pain. He says (in a speech bubble) "I've had enough of this dog's life! I'm going to commit suicide!!" He bashes a hole in the paper and disappears through it. Full animation now (the hands were real hands). Jerry stands by some railway tracks. He says: "I'll lay down there and end it all!!" He lays down, puts his hands behind his head and crosses his legs. C/U of an animated train, the engine driver leans out of his cab and shouts. Jerry seems oblivious. The train drives over Jerry. Lots of carriages just bump over his body. He sits up and looks puzzled, question marks fly out of his head and he says: "Well I'm - !" He shouts after the train then walks off. He walks along for a while shaking his head and moaning.
Suddenly he sees a sign which reads: "Beware of the Steam Roller." He nods his head: "Bet I do it this time!!" He lays down and the steam roller comes up to him but stops in front of his feet each time. Jerry looks very cross and walks towards it. Just when he isn't looking the steam roller flattens him. A man with a pick axe walks along and picks Jerry up. He is completely flat. He blows him up - big fat round Jerry! A man pumps up the tires of his car with a hand pump. He gets annoyed with the pump because it doesn't seem to be working. Jerry comes along. The man says: "I Want Some Wind!" Jerry puts his mouth on the pipe, the man stands on Jerry, the wind comes out of Jerry into the tire! They shake hands, the man puts Jerry in his car and says: "Come along with me and I'll give you a good home!" Jerry nods and they drive off. Last shot is of Jerry and his new owner tucking into a feast. Jerry says: "Life isn't so bad after all!"
