    Whitstable, Kent.

Story about an Italian knitwear company that has based itself in Whitstable. Nice shots of knitted garments being designed, made and modelled.

Two Italian designers work on designs at a drawing board. Signs in their factory are in Italian - "the town has become a little corner of Italy" states the narrator "without the sun of course. Various shots of women working at knitting machines and the two men studying cones of wool.

The factory is run by a family from Monterosa who were brought to Britain by a far-sighted Englishman named Edward Jones. Commentary suggests that everyone who works here is Italian. M/S of a woman called Mrs Tebe Tombari who acts as "mother, cook and chief bottle washer" for the contingent of Italian girls who have come to work here.

Fashion parade takes place in a "salon". A couple of elderly ladies watch the display. Full length wool coats, suits and dresses are modelled as well as sweaters and cardigans. Lots of lovely stuff. A male model is seen posing with a woman - a real "catalogue man" style poser. All the jumpers modelled are fab. Last outfit modelled is a reversible dress - the model holds up the hem of the skirt and we get a flash of her petticoat.

According to paperwork the company is Toogood and Jones.

Verbal warfare at its best. Here are some of history's greatest retorts and snarling insults. These people certainly didn't mince their words!
