Start of the international football game between Ireland and England. SCU. Danny Blanchflower shaking hands with Billy Wright, the referee watching them. SV. Stanley Matthews jogging up and down waiting for the kick off. GV. Kick off, England in white shirts and black shorts kicking from right to left. Ireland in green shirts and white shorts. Don Revie slips the ball to Ronny Clayton - he receives and starts to move. CU. Boys cheering behind wire fencing. LV. England on the attack. A long ball is pushed through and Taylor rushes into the penalty area and beats his man as three Irishmen descend on him. He slips it back into the middle to Revie and Revie passes out to Matthews who runs in and slams the ball past the sprawling goalkeeper. Ball in net - England 1, Ireland 0. CU. Man cheering frantically with a bell. LV. England on the attack again, a pass through to Granger. He tries to shoot between Blanchflower's legs, hits them and Granger runs back to beat sprawling Jackie Blanchflower, beats him and shoots. Goalkeeper Gregg makes a sprawling save and throws it up field. CU. People cheering behind wire fencing. LV. The ball comes into the English goal area where Jimmy McIlroy shoots it into net, despite Reg Matthews' leap. Pan to players congratulating McIlroy. Score 1-1. GV. Cheering crowd. LV. Matthews with the ball trying to get England going, kicks it across the Irish goal. SV. The ball comes across and Gregg leaps to take it - he picks it up. SV. Massed crowd. LV. English goal, Ireland on the attack. Ball comes into the centre of the goal, it's all heads up and the ball runs loose. MacAdams shoots for Matthews who deflects it for the corner. CU. Man in funny hat puts his hand up to his face. LV. Corner kick being taken from right wing. Reg Matthews beats Jones to the ball, grabs it and falls to ground and throws up field. CU. Man in funny hat. LV. Irish on the attack. Ball is slung into the English penalty area where McParland beats Hall to the ball and hits towards the goal. Matthews jumps and tries to save but it hits the bar as goalkeeper Reg Matthews falls to the ground. He grabs it as he falls and as he falls McParland falls over him. He gets up and throws up. Billy Wright comes back and pats Matthews as if to say "well done". CU. Man carrying and kissing cardboard woman. LV. The Irish sweeping in again Irishman, and with Matthews beaten the ball hits the upright and rebounds into play where Byrne gets hold of it and slips it safely back to goal keeper Matthews. Lucky England. Final score - England 1, Ireland 1.
