    The winner is ROBERT Benoist in a 1½-litre straight-8 Delage.

  • "Delange" in the body text should read Delage.

    As well as being a star racing driver Benoist was also a war hero, being a secret agent for Britain and also a member of the French Resistance. Sadly he was captured in mid-1944 and murdered at Buchenwald concentration camp.
