No titles. 61st Ideal Home Exhibition.

    Olympia, London.

Various shots of the Ideal Home Exhibition. A middle-aged couple walk across a water garden on stepping stones, with fountains playing either side, to reach a house exhibit. People wander about and look at the displays. Some of the house exhibits are quite exotic - one is a Chinese pagoda.

A man demonstrates a waffle-maker at a stand. A young girl demonstrates a plastic whisk. C/U of a mask surrounded by peacock feathers. People walk past other exotic 'fiesta' displays as they make their way through the exhibition area. People sit down for a rest beside a fountain with plastic sea horses moving round it.

In a kitchen a woman turns a revolving cupboard round to show contents - good for showing typical 1960s kitchen cupboard contents and food, including packet of Kelloggs cornflakes. At another stand a woman fits a Bendy lamp to the back of an armchair, then sits down and pretends to read by it (she forgot to switch it on!).

At a German Food Centre - supermarket-type food stall - we see people paying for food at checkouts. A man dressed in Spanish costume pours sherry in the traditional way with a long, thin ladle. He hands out glasses of sherry to the people watching.

Animals are often the forgotten army of World War I. They displayed unwavering courage even when exposed to extreme conditions. British Pathé pay tribute to these forgotten warriors.
