    "A summer visit to Death Valley U.S.A. the place nobody wants."

    Various L/Ss of landscape of Death Valley. Panning shot of the landscape. "Through the Funeral Mountains on a joyride." - M/S of a rickety train taking tourists through the valley. The passengers sit on flat boards on wheels - no sides or ceilings to the carriages. Some wave at the camera. Low angle shot of the train passing by. L/S of the train moving through the landscape. Views from the train of mountainous landscape. "Soda, borax and potash - free for the taking." High angle shots of the salt flats. Two tourists walk along sand dunes at the bottom of the valley. Their bodies cast long shadows over the sand.

    C/U of two women from the waist down. They stand beside a sign which reads: "Bottom of the World - Death Valley." There is a skull and crossbones on the sign. In front of them someone hits a golf ball. A man bends down to pick up the ball which has been putted into a hole in the rock. Dusk shot in the valley. Dark skies and a mountain silhouette.
