  • My father was in the RAF and we were stationed in Cyprus when Yuri Gagarin visited the island. I was about 10 and we lived in Limassol. I was lucky enough to be able to catch a glimpse of him as his motorcade drove through the town. There was a whole weekend of celebration in Limassol's central park with a mockup of Gagarin's capsule and plenty of eating and drinking!
