    Leatherhead, Surrey.

The British Food Manufacturing Industries Association test some everyday foods at their labs.

Three men sit at a table and a woman enters with plates of sausages and jars of pickles. C/U a man inspects a bowl of sausages and takes one out, putting it on his plate. C/U as the knife cuts the sausage, pan up as the man looks at the piece of sausage before tasting it. C/U of bowl of white eggs as a hand takes one and breaks it over an egg white separator. A woman in a white coat with an industrial sized egg whisk. C/U whisk in action. M/S timing device for foam test. The woman moves the bowl to a shelf where the whisked whites are left to settle and a test tube catches the egg white as it separates again.

Another test is for spreadability for margarines. C/U of margarine block as a core sampler is dug in to remove a sample. The sample is placed into a meccano style machine. C/U shot of motor action. M/S glass is placed at one end to catch the margarine as it is squeezed out. C/U of cylinder graph attached to machine. It all looks clean but very basic like a school laboratory.

Lastly, there is a wobble test for jellies. M/S man takes a jelly out of its cup mould to measure it under a micrometer. He then takes a second jelly to measure, this one wobbles everywhere. M/S of three jellies in a row - two nice and firm, and one beginning to sag.

Note: The documentation file includes letters and a booklet.
