Hammersmith School of Floristry, Hammersmith, London.
L/S of two florists arranging flowers. They stand behind tables laden with flowers and vases (both women). Narrator begins with a quote from Blake: "to create a little flower is the labour of ages". Various shots of flower arrangements and women at work. M/Ss of the women as they daintily place flowers in a vase. Pamela Drake is the teacher and gives tips on using fruit and vegetables in place of hothouse blooms. Another florist uses asparagus fern and broccoli leaves. C/U of the arrangement. A bunch of grapes is attached to another display. M/S of another creation taking shape.
An ordinary cooking cabbage has the centre taken out and replaced with pink rhododendrons - this frankly looks hideous! Another display features lots of vegetables - mushrooms, tomatoes, carrots and peppers.
Narrator ends by saying "As well as being artistic, the flower displays of tomorrow look appetising."
The women appearing in this film are Joan Dove and Pamela Drake.
