Title: "FLOODS in PARIS - Swollen Seine is rapidly rising to the catastrophe mark (21 ft.) - only fine weather can avert great disaster".

L/S of a suspension bridge over the swollen River Seine, in the foreground men clamber on piles of gravel and coal sticking out of the flood to get on a barge, a horse and cart stand nearby. M/S of a stone bridge with figures carved in the support pillars, the river rushes underneath, the water is higher than usual.

Panning across a flooded avenue - trees stick out of the water, a man walks along planks balanced on tables outside a cafe, another man wades through the water. High angled shot of railway tracks, they appear to be covered in snow.

Verbal warfare at its best. Here are some of history's greatest retorts and snarling insults. These people certainly didn't mince their words!
