Full title reads: "Fire disasters - outbreaks at Newcastle and Holytown".

    Elswick-upon-Tyne, Tyne and Wear.

Various shots of enormous pile of coke (coal) which has caught fire at Newcastle and Gateshead Gas Company. Firemen and workers try to extinguish the blaze with hoses - looks like they're fighting a losing battle. Great clouds of smoke are seen drifting over houses.

    Holytown, Lanarkshire (nr. Glasgow, Scotland).

Various shots of burnt out and blackened colliery pit head. Narrator tells us the fire burned for 10 hours and there were many anxious moments bringing 200 miners working down below in coal mine to safety.
