Title reads: "Fighters in a foreign land - Italy honours her war dead".

    Rome, Italy.

Various L/Ss of massive battalion of troops gathered in Great Square. They stand before "Rome's Magnificent Memorial to her war heroes" - probably Plazza Venezia (monumento Al Milite Ignoto). Large crowds of civilians watch as dignitaries and soldiers from Italian Army lay vast wreaths on memorial. One of the wreaths has ribbon with "Il Duce" written on it. Amongst dignitaries presiding over ceremony is Benito Mussolini's son in law, Count Galeazzo Ciano. More shots of memorial gathering.

August 2014 marks 100 years since the start of World War One. To honour this landmark occasion, British Pathé have launched this definitive collection of WW1 films.
10 telling images selected from British Pathé's extensive WWI footage. 'The war to end all wars' was a war without parallel: over 70 million military personnel were involved and over 17 million people died.
