RE: Mrs Peggy Foy dipping models into solution (white alabaster?) - this is likely to be a glaze not alabaster! My guess is a white tin glaze, sometimes referred to as \'majolica\', judging by the work of Peggy\'s I have seen on collectible websites. This glaze type is usually used over a red clay or terracotta type material, which is relatively low fired. The painting is usually a mixture of metal oxides, in powder form mixed with water and sometimes a very small amount of clay powder, that produce a characteristically chalky line quality and bright colours when fired.
