Elaborate stage costumes designed by Idare are modelled. Nice combination of poetic intertitles and gorgeous outfits.
The intertitle "F stands for Fur - and fair ladies the while," is followed by a M/S of a woman in an elaborate white fur trimmed gown approaching the camera. She looks to be on a stage set of a drawing room. C/U of the bottom of the gown, then pan up to the models' face. She opens her arms revealing large fur trimmed sleeves. She then walks backwards away from the camera in M/S. "A is for "Aerophane", as bright as a smile - " Another elaborate frock is modelled, this one features floaty chiffon layers and a large ostrich feather hat. "While S is for Silk - and skirts full of style." A seated woman stands up and holds out the sides of her skirt to show off the lace trim. "H is for Head-dress, so awkward to rhyme - " An amazing head dress is modelled. Probably two foot high, it looks to be made of a semicircle of sequinned and beaded net and has sparkly fringes hanging down past the models shoulders. Absolutely fabulous! The model walks slowly towards the camera trying then turns. "and I is for Income - it's needed this time --!" A black and white wide hipped dress is modelled, again the outfit is topped off with a large ostrich feather hat. C/U of the skirt then pan upwards to show the bodice. The model draws in her elbows and sticks out her hands in a strange pose then turns for the camera. "O stands for Ostrich - these feathers so light - " A dress, hat and fan all trimmed with ostrich feathers are featured. The model turns and flounces her fan. "And N is for Negligee and Fashion's goodnight!" Woman reclines on a sofa with he high heel clad feet on a pouffe! She is wearing a white draped Negligee - full length and a little boudoir cap. She stands up and poses for the camera.
Note: I think that Idare's first name is Eileen. To be checked.
Safety print exists - show print. Probably to be found in the "Friends of Fashion" roll.
