  • The vehicle seen at 0:19 was known as the "Modern Specialist", and was built around the engine of a Porsche 356.

  • The dragster in question was owned by my uncle Doug Church. He driving in the clip. It was sold in 1966. As I remember the story (Doug has passed away) He watched a close friend crash and die on the track, so decided that was his sign to do something else.
    The car was recently restored. If you search EMPI dragster, you can see the Modern Specialist dragster in the same condition it was that day in Blackbusche.
