The house has been "modernised" by five generations of the family and in 1955 is worth £3000. C/U of the bedroom and of a table which has a miniature photograph and letter writing set upon it. The Empire room is named after the Empire style "love seats" presented to Mrs Clayton-Mitchell's mother by Empress Eugenie. C/U of a light fitting and C/Us of the bathroom. Various shots of different rooms including the kitchen complete with pots and pans, a real mouse skin rug "adds a Lilliputian 'big-game' touch to the entrance hall".
A cigarette held in a pair of tweezers is held against the dining room furniture to provide a contrast. C/U of Mrs Clayton-Mitchell. Japanese statuettes, French colour prints and a solid silver tea set are to be found amongst the decorations. A household match is used to show the size of miniature pipes.
