Comedian Danny Kaye arrives in London - 1948. (Seems to be cuts relating to newsreel stories 48/89 and 48/90 - see separate records for details.)

L/Ss of plane landing at Heathrow Airport - looks quite foggy. Shots of people coming down steps; crowds wait at the bottom. Brief shot of crowds with banner - 'The London Palladium Welcomes the President of the INT Club'. Danny Kaye and his wife, Sylvia Fine, pause on steps to wave to crowd. There is a small band playing beside the steps. More shots of plane taxiing in. Danny and Sylvia walk off, accompanied by the band and the people with the banner. Cameramen and photographers walk in front of them.

Black spacing from 01:44:08 to 01:44:15. Dark shot of audience at London Palladium during Royal Command Performance. Dark and fuzzy shot of Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother), King George VI and Princess Margaret (?) in Royal box. The Princess is standing to take bow. High angle shot of Danny Kaye standing with comedians Bud Flanagan and Chesney Allen on stage. Shot of a line of comedians with hands on shoulders of the one in front, jigging across the stage. Apart from Danny, there seems to be several members of the Crazy Gang, and possibly comedian Ted Ray. Shots of ensemble on stage - probably during finale of the show. Shots of King and Queen in royal box.

Throng of fans outside the theatre push against policemen barricade (in the rain). Princess Margaret gets out of car and walks into theatre. American film star / actor Robert Taylor arrives and walks in. Comedian Sid Field (and wife?) greets a glamorous looking couple outside the theatre - bit dark to make out who it is. Film star Douglas Fairbanks arrives with others. King and Queen arrive and go inside. Woman with large radio pack with enormous aerial and headphones stands outside, talking to policeman. Perhaps she is picking up radio broadcast of the show?! Mounted policemen patrol past the crowds.

L/Ss of performers on stage during show. Danny is easily recognised. Quick shot of line of high-kicking dancing girls. Light and fuzzy shots of royals enjoying show.
