    Cunnings Walking Race.

Location of events unknown - later shots look like London.

Fitness and exercise. Elderly man is champion speed-walker; shows off his athletic ability in 2 events. He is dressed in no-frills white shorts and T-shirt. First he walks in a sort of race against another old man; who is just wearing trousers; a jacket; a cap - regular non-athletic clothes - and who has to run to keep up. They are accompanied by several boys on bicycles; a boy riding a horse and 2 other men driving a pony cart. Shot of beginning of race on a street in town; then shots of race in progress on country roads.

Finally CU posed shot after race w/ walking man in centre; other guy at edge of screen; boys behind them.

ECU man. The walking man sets out again on a fast walk through park in the city; this time no one else on foot; but 2 young women on horseback are trotting along; and a few men & boys on bikes. Tracking shot from just in front; looking at the man speed-walking between the 2 horses. Sometimes CU man's face as he walks. Several people are gathered on curb as this little group go by.

Note: some shots are very light.

"Cunnings" in the title and body text should read Cummings, for the "elderly man" described in the text is George Cummings, (I'm sure he's not THAT elderly).

This footage might well be allied to clip 314.21, in which Cummings tries to beat the time set by a horse for travelling from London to York.
