  • Description

No title. According to paperwork item title read: "Football Again. With the "fade out" of cricket, thousands of football "fans" flock to all Matches."

Shot of cricketers leaving a pavilion dissolves into shot of football match. Images of footballers and cricketers are faded in and out to suggest the end of the cricket season and the beginning of the football season. This is presumably library footage of the cricket season. Both football teams and cricket teams are unidentified - let us know if you recognise anyone!

A bit unusual this, because the football match appears to be a Second Division game, rather than as would be expected a First Division one. Adverts point to near Victoria Station and the layout and "corner tunnel" lead me to think this is Craven Cottage, Fulham. In the wide shots the board to the back of the terracing appears to say "Fulham Football Club". If so the opening game of 1927/1928 was on 27 August 1927 against Preston (which would tie in with them being in change strip of all blue). Game ended a 2-2 draw.
