Nice footage of people celebrating the harvest at the Jaffa Festival. Smiling faces, bright colours, dancing displays, etc.
We follow the story of a girl who lives in a "children's village" in Israel. She was sent there from Rumania as an orphan. We see children having lessons, weaving, gardening, working in the fields, farming, tending sheep, harvesting fruit.
Jaffa oranges and grapefruit are gathered by "Israel's sons and daughters". Nice colourful footage of oranges being picked.
More dancing as the narrator tells us that the girl whose story we are following now sees Israel as her home. Another refugee to Israel is featured. He is a construction worker who has been able to forget his past.
Tel Aviv - buildings grow before our eyes. New housing is shown, also a luxury hotel, factories etc. We see an orange packing factory. Various shots of people at work in the factory making packing cases and wrapping oranges in paper.
Harvest Festival. Dances of biblical times are performed. Fisherman is featured, and the narrator compares him to fishermen of the bible. He fishes in the Sea of Galilee. He takes off his shirt and trousers and walks into the water with his net. Camera pans to show surrounding countryside. Mount of the Beatitudes (sp?). A Franciscan monastery overlooks the Sea of Galilee. A Franciscan monk is seen looking at the view. Ruins of Capernium (sp?) - various shots of ancient Jewish symbols carved into ruined buildings.
