In the field of industrial relations, he welcomes the part played by the TUC / Trades Union Congress, speaking of partnership between managers and workers in industry and encouraging workers' share ownership in the companies who employ them.
He goes on to to speak of world peace and the recent Conference of the four Heads of Government in Geneva in July, making the forthcoming Foreign Secretaries' meeting possible. He reflects that international anxieties are less acute today than they were a year ago and adds that it could be the realisation of their destructive capability that could be exercising restraint in nations holding nuclear weapons. "... the great powers ought to agree to exercise restraint themselves and to join together to restrain others. Madam Chairman that seems to me what the spirit of Geneva ought to mean."
