Republican small artillery and field guns pound the ancient Fortress of the Alcazar. Hand grenades are lobbed over rooftops. Various explosions. Various shots of troops moving forwards under fire. Troops fire from behind a sandbag barricade.

Intertitle reads: "Barselo, Commander of the Republican Forces, supervises the attack."
Barselo, accompanied by Republican troops, inspects the siege area. Lots of buildings have been destroyed in the heavy fighting. Troops fire rifles from behind sandbags. Troops under small arms fire move across streets and over roof tops. More shots of troops firing.

Intertitle reads: "Battle at Irun". An officer with binoculars looks out over countryside. Artillery is fired and troops start to move forward firing. (Are these Nationalist troops?)

Intertitle reads: "In The Mountains of Guadarrama." Troops move over the wooded hills. A heavy machine gun is carried by a donkey.

Intertitle reads: "To the Attack!". Troops move stealthily up the mountain under fire.

Intertitle reads: "The Republican Military Staff Leads the Artillery". Radio officers send messages along the front. Officers plot targets for the guns. Sights are set, shells loaded and the bombardment begins.

Intertitle reads: "The Peaceful Village of Pecherinos, Bombed by Fascist Planes". High overhead a bomber flies. Various shots of explosions and damage caused by the Nationalist bombing raid.

Intertitle reads: "The Inhabitants Must Flee From Their Homes". Refugees from Fascist / Nationalist bombing move along a road. Their belonging are carried on donkeys.

Intertitle reads: "But The Republicans Do Not Give Up Their Positions". Troops run forwards and take up defensive positions behind rocks.

Intertitle reads: "After The Battle". A wounded Republican soldier is carried on a stretcher by his comrades. Injured and tired men move through the woodland. Some give the clenched fist salute as they pass the camera.

Intertitle reads: "New Forces Arrive To Replace The Dead And Wounded". Troops with bed rolls and cooking gear wait to move forward into the line. A lorry carrying troops drives past flying a flag and with the troops giving the clenched fist salute.

Intertitle reads: "In The Rear There Is Also Work To Do".
