In Brno, Czechoslovakia, we see exterior shot of the Opera House. Inside we see the new stage with several sections that can be raised, lowered and rotated. Men move scenery around. In a brief excerpt from a show, we see numerous actors in 17th century costume on stage in a musical number. The stage rotates so that the next scene appears, complete with a new set of performers!
In the United States of America, several shots show the American National Chess Championship where men sit at tables playing chess and pondering their next moves. The current champion, Samuel Reshevsky, is seen in a match against Isaac Kashden. Reshevsky wins and is handed his trophy cup as the master chess player of America.
In Italy we see a new crop spraying machine that is strapped onto the front of a person. Men walk about the fields turning handles on the side of the machine, making the chemical spray out onto the crops. They are also covered in the chemical spray!
In Cincinnati, United States of America, we see various shots of the International Women's Skittle Match at a bowling alley. The women contestants are dressed in the traditional costume of the area they come from - cowgirls, prairie woman, American-Indian. Cowgirls Velma Mathis and Jane Rice score a strike each; Edna Gardner and Princess Pakalia knock down all but a few of their pins. (Also known as tenpin bowling.)
