    Isle of Wight.

At Carisbrooke Castle water is pulled from the well using donkey power!

Ray Barnes,Well House attendant, leads a donkey from its stables into the castle grounds past the Gatehouse. Ray and donkey go into a building, C/U of a sign - 'Well House and Donkey Wheel'.

Ray leads the donkey into a giant hamster wheel attached to a winch. As the donkey walks rope winds around the winch lifting a bucket of water from the deep well.

When the bucket is lifted, the donkey walks obediently off the wheel - it takes a year to train them to do this.

Cuts exist - see separate record.
