King George VI holds investiture at Buckingham Palace, London.

Crowds outside Buckingham Palace watch men in ceremonial dress come walking out of the gates after attending the New Year's Honours. One man standing with a policeman shows us his medal. Three smartly-dressed women come out of the gates carrying large envelopes. On the right is singer / actress Gracie Fields; the other two could be Gracie's sister Betty and their mother. Brief shot of Gracie posing for the camera and crowd.

Note: Gracie was awarded a CBE in the New Year's Honours on Jan 1 1938. Lord Nuffield was made a Viscount and may appear here, but this cataloguer doesn't recognise him.
